Brief background: Grete's parents planted the first grapevines soon after they bought this home and property in the early 1980s, and continued to expand their vineyard over the years. They opened the winery ("Owl Creek Vineyard") in 1995 in a new building next door to their home. In 2005, Grete's parents decided to semi-retire and no longer wanted to run their own winery, although Grete's dad, Ted, still consults with area winemakers. They sold the winery portion of the business, but the new owner continues to rent the original winery building and kept the name "Owl Creek Vineyard". Grete's parents retained the vineyard portion of the business and their very hard work with the vines over 30 years has resulted in one of the most beautiful, well-trained vineyards in the area.
